We were so excited when we pulled up to Alexandra’s house the morning of October 19th. As we passed through her charming front garden, and were welcomed by her family into her beautiful home in Malvern, she was just finishing up on getting her hair and makeup ready. With a bridal glow and a radiant smile, she greeted us and looked as excited as ever.
Standing in a group by the kitchen counter, the bridesmaids were all set to go. Soon, after Alex was done, they began rehearsing for their dance routine to perform that following night. The ladies spent a good several minutes perfecting their turns and moves, still in their loose white shirts and hotel slippers. They also had on matching robes, in true bridal morning fashion. The morning went on joyously; champagne popping, dancing together to old-school love songs, posing for photos, and just having the time of their lives.
Not long after, it was time to head upstairs to help Alex change into her dress. Sure enough, after Alex tended to Freddie, changing his clothes into a snazzy little dress shirt, which suited his bright, blue eyes, she slipped into her gorgeous white dress, with all her bridesmaids circled around her. After getting buttoned up and ready to go, Alex truly appeared as the most stunning bride. Clutching a bouquet of white roses in hand, with the family pacing around the house to get ready, the morning’s ambience just felt heavenly. Everyone smiled exuberantly at the sight of Alex in her dress. A day unlike any other, and it certainly went off on a wonderful start.
At Josh’s house, he and his groomsmen were also well enjoying their mornings. With beers in hand, bright sunny weather, and Josh’s son, Freddie, waking up from his daytime nap, Josh was pacing around his house trying to get everything ready. His buddies, after they enjoyed lounging outside in the sun, headed inside to also rehearse their dance routine for the reception later on. Clapping in unison and going through the steps together, the warm sense of brotherhood and anticipation slowly filled the room.
When we entered his home, Josh was only hours away from saying “I do” to the love of his life. As he was getting ready, the mixed feelings he had were seen through his behaviour. Fascinatingly enough, amidst Josh’s nerves; fixing his collar, checking his vows, gathering his suit, he still seemed like the happiest and most prepared man in the world. Alongside a giddy feeling of love, a side effect of anxiousness is also often felt, whether it be sending a love letter, or preparing for your wedding day. But it was heartwarming, nonetheless. Maybe out of all the things of this world that can make your hands go cold, your heart beat too fast, or your mind race for miles, maybe love would be one that is worth it.
Any nervous emotion that might’ve come across the couple leading up to the wedding, must have vanished the minute they saw each other. After the chapel filled with guests and the ring bearer, flower girl, and bridesmaids started to make their way down the aisle, Josh was emotional at the sight of his beautiful bride. When Alex glided down the aisle, with the sound of the piano filling the room, Josh became teary eyed, and couldn’t take his eyes off of her. Holding her father’s arm and inching closer to the man she chose as her forever, it was a touching, heartfelt start to the rest of the day.
And the day was, as expected, a wonderful occasion. After the ceremony, Alex & Josh walked out of the church and went out to hug their loved ones who had come to celebrate the day with them. Rose petals, champagne glasses, and all smiles as they went on with the rest of the afternoon.
Much like the moments leading up to it, the reception also held its own flare. Guests awaited their arrival while chatting and enjoying cocktails out in the open air. The evening gave only a gentle breeze, and the decorations were impeccable, with arrangements of roses, candles, and a neon sign that said “It started with a kiss,” indicating the story of how they first met.
The event went on beautifully. The couple soon arrived, hugged and greeted everyone, and of course, it wasn’t a wedding reception without a fun, dancing entrance of the entire bridal party. After the music and the cake cutting, the couple and their guests enjoyed the dinner being served, while listening to speeches made by a few of their closest family members. The peak of the night, however, was the moment the lights dimmed, and the floor opened for the father-daughter dance.
Alexandra and her father undoubtedly shared a heartfelt, sincere bond with each other that was rare to find. One could tell from every second they danced together, just how much he adored his daughter, and how proud he was of her on that special occasion. Soon enough, Josh came in and the couple shared their first dance together.
Things took an exciting turn, however, as the music suddenly turned from a romantic, melodious tune, to a fun, upbeat anthem. As Josh left the dance floor, Alex was soon joined by her delighted bridesmaids in all their matching attire. The group danced to Shania Twain’s I Feel Like A Woman, a glorious start to the dance medley. Twirling and swaying together, they aced their routine and went out with Taylor Swift’s famous Shake It Off.
Afterwards, it was the men’s turn to take centre stage. Josh and his groomsmen ditched the suits this time, going for just their shirts, bowties, and a pair of sunnies on each of their faces. Seconds later, they were already spinning, pointing, and dancing to everyone’s amusement, giving their all, even to the point of a couple of the groomsmen lifting Josh up on their shoulders. Sure enough, everyone was mesmerised, and the group memorably ended the dance with Ricky Martin’s Livin’ La Vida Loca.
The memory of Josh and Alex’s wedding day is one we will definitely hold dear. It was exhilarating, beautiful, and of course, unforgettable. We thank them for their trust on such a momentous occasion, and we wish both of them, along with their little boy, the greatest journey together as a family.
